High Tech IP and Licensing Trends at LES 2014 Mid-year Meeting

LES 2014 Mid-Year Meeting Header

Be the first to learn about the latest High Tech intellectual property and licensing trends! Join us for the LES Mid-year Meeting, March 25-27, 2014, New York. Register by January 8 and save.

This meeting brings together more than 250 licensing, intellectual property, business development and technology professionals to discuss trends and best practices. Attend, and we guarantee you will build new relationships and gain valuable insight that will advance your company's competitive position.

High Tech sessions will include:

Wednesday, March 26

  • Trends & Opportunities in Semiconductor Licensing. Join us as panelists from the semiconductor ecosystem discuss the intellectual property licensing trends. Topics include: the effects of more complex system-on-chip devices on patent and technology licensing activities; how industry consolidation impacts semiconductor companies' IP defense and monetization strategies; the impact of shifts in global markets -- such as the rise of China -- on licensing activities; and synergies and tensions between licensing and product businesses. Panelists represent ARM Ltd., Freescale Semiconductor and Rambus.

Note: This session is a follow-up to an article published in the December issue of les Nouvelles (link to article)

  • IP & Licensing Issues in Government Contracts. Final speakers and session details to be announced soon.

Thursday, March 27

  • The Invisible Hand - Models for Monetizing Patents in the 21st Century. The market for patent monetization can seem chaotic and confusing, but there are fundamental principles behind its evolution.  Join us as we explore how and why the market has grown from a defensively oriented licensing market to one in which licensing must be balanced against a dynamic secondary market for patent sales.  We'll also provide a primer on approaching the market from the perspective of licensors and sellers to licensees and buyers. Panelists from IBM and other leading high tech companies will lead the discussion.
  • From Cable Box to Streaming Video: The Evolution of IP Management in the Cable Industry.  The cable industry is at a critical juncture when it comes to content delivery technologies and changing competitive landscape.  Long dominant Multiple System Operators (MSOs), including cable and IP-TV content providers are facing the threat of "cord cutting" as consumers are opting for streaming video services.  MSOs are also facing unique IP challenges as their reliance on third-party manufactured hardware equipment (cable boxes) has now been replaced by internal IP development and platform integration.  Join panelists from IP Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner Cable and Foresight Valuation Group to discuss this vital issue.
  • LTE Licensing from the Licensors' Perspective. This sessions features speakers from Qualcomm, Intel, Ericsson and Microsoft to review one of today's most significant technology licensing areas.

You can't afford to miss this outstanding education and networking opportunity. Visit the Mid-year Meeting website www.lesmidyear.org for the latest program information.
